Licorice Gelato is a playful exploration of colour, movement and texture. Sweeping strokes of charcoal, slate grey and white curve through the composition, interrupted by a striking slash of deep magenta. Soft, muted sage-grey fields provide a quiet contrast, punctuated by playful pink circular accents. A gently curved groove echoes the movement of the brushwork, while translucent layers, scraped textures and bold gestural marks give the painting a wonderful sense of depth and energy.
