Brouhaha: Brouhaha and Kerfuffle were neighbours. The street was never quiet.
Brouhaha is an abstract painting with the same distinctive two-act composition as its neighbour Kerfuffle, but wilder and more uninhibited. The upper half is a frenetic tangle of looping black arcs, with generous orange and blush pink forms and electric blue splatter dripping freely down the canvas. The lower half settles into quieter cream and beige tones with looser, more relaxed black marks and orange accents, as if the commotion is catching its breath before starting again.
The layered brushwork creates real depth and movement throughout, with the interplay between bold and subtle, structured and free, giving the painting its distinctive character. Brouhaha and Kerfuffle work beautifully as a pair.
